First off, you need to determine your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE)- the total amount of calories you burn in a day. Why is this crucial? Knowing your TDEE helps you understand the exact number of calories you should consume every day.
Your TDEE is comprised of three factors:
Energy used by your body to digest food (10% of TDEE)
Basil Metabolic Rate (BMR)—i.e., the calories you’d burn at rest—(70% of TDEE)
