Step 1: Know your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE)

First off, you need to determine your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE)- the total amount of calories you burn in a day. Why is this crucial? Knowing your TDEE helps you understand the exact number of calories you should consume every day.

Your TDEE is comprised of three factors:

  1. Physical activity (making up 20% of TDEE)
  2. Energy used by your body to digest food (10% of TDEE)

  3. Basil Metabolic Rate (BMR)—i.e., the calories you’d burn at rest—(70% of TDEE)

You can calculate your TDEE (and BMR) easily by visiting [TDE Calculator](Click here). Neither am I sponsored, nor is a body fat percentage necessary (but highly recommended for accurate results).

Let’s move to the second trick after you’ve figured out your daily maintenance calories.

Step 2: Cut Back Your Daily Calorie Intake
To lose weight, you must consume 300 to 500 less calories than your maintenance calories. You can track your calorie intake through handy apps. Recording everything you eat will help tally how many calories you have consumed throughout the day.
Step 3: Enter the World of Intermittent Fasting
While this step is optional, incorporating intermittent fasting will massively boost your weight loss process.

How’s that?
I personally follow an 18:6 intermittent fasting regime- I fast for 18 hours and consume all my meals within a six-hour window. Essentially, it means skipping breakfast and having the first meal after 2:00 p.m.
Intermittent fasting is a way to make your body more efficient in burning fat besides keeping insulin levels low.
“Glycagon enters your bloodstream, signaling your body to use energies from your fat storages. It’s the opposite of insulin, which tells your body to store energies. So Glycagon is like, ‘hey, we need that energy. Let’s take it from the body.”
Step 4: Get an Exercise Routine
Lastly, find a workout plan that you enjoy and are comfortable with. Cardiovascular exercises are paramount in reducing visceral fats (fats that wrap around your organs).

Hate running or jogging for hours? Well, you don’t have to! Try this simple cardio method. Get on a treadmill, adjust the inclination between twelve and 15, set the speed to 3.5, and walk for 30 minutes four to five times per week.

A full-body-split workout system is optimal for beginners, which you can do about two to three times per week.

Conclusion
Weight loss is doable once you find the right approach. Find your TDEE, consume fewer calories than your maintenance calories, consider intermittent fasting, and finally, incorporate regular exercise into your lifestyle.
